Transylvanian soprano Valentina Puskás joined the Jette Parker Artist Programme at the Royal Opera House, London, in 2023. Since then, she has appeared as Adina in Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore, Nedda in Leoncavallo’s Pagliacci, and the Dew Fairy in Humperdinck’s Hansel and Gretel. In 2024, she took part in the new Pappano/Loy production of Strauss’s Elektra at the Royal Opera House and joined the company’s Japan tour as cover for Liù in Puccini’s Turandot. Additional appearances with the programme included Eleonore in Martinů’s Les Larmes de Couteau and the First Attendant in Harbison’s A Full Moon in March at the Linbury Theatre. In 2025, she made her debut as Micaëla in Bizet’s Carmen at the Royal Opera House.
In 2025, she reached the quarterfinals of the Operalia Competition.
During the 2025/26 season, she appeared as Musetta in Puccini’s La bohème at the Romanian National Opera in Cluj-Napoca, made her Italian debut as Giorgetta in Puccini’s Il tabarro at Teatro dei Rinnovati in Siena, and returned to Cluj-Napoca as Donna Elvira in Mozart’s Don Giovanni. Future engagements include participation in the Opera for Peace Academy in Lugano and her debut as Leonora in Verdi’s Il trovatore at the Hungarian State Opera in Budapest.
Valentina Puskás completed her master’s studies at the National University of Music Bucharest under the guidance of Professor Lavinia Cherecheș.
Before joining the Royal Opera House, she made her stage debut as Countess Almaviva in Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro at the Miskolc National Theatre in Hungary. She has also appeared on numerous Romanian stages, including the Bucharest National Opera, the Transylvania Philharmonic in Cluj-Napoca, the Oradea Philharmonic, the Deva Theatre, and the Petroșani Theatre.
She is the recipient of several international prizes, including First Prize at the Elite International Music Competition (2021) and Second Prize at the Musicum Laude International Competition (2021).
Her repertoire spans lyric and spinto soprano roles, with a particular focus on Mozart, Puccini, and Verdi.
